Region 43 was chartered in July 1993 and started with over 600 members from 45 different agencies/departments. Any serving or retired law enforcement officer is welcome to join us. The I.P.A. is the largest police fraternal organization in the world with nearly 300,000 members in 58 countries and Region 43 is a popular travel destination for many of them. In the past years, we have met members from most European Countries as well as Australia, South Africa, South America, Spain and many more. Our region maintains close ties with local law enforcement and we are happy to arrange police related activities for visitors.

As of June 1, 2011, Region 43 has 324 members paid up through 2011 with an additional 104 pending 2011 dues for a total membership of 428.  Approximately 2/3's of our members are actively serving with some 47 different Local, County, State or Federal Police agencies.  The remaining third are honorably retired from those same agencies.  We are the third largest Region in the US behind New York City and Long Island.  We are also the most active Region in the US.

The Region has a Newsletter published three times a year which is now available via e-mail or for reading here online under the EVENTS button. It is available in the Adobe format and the reader/program is available free on the Internet at (Note: ALL files are virus checked before being sent.) If you would like a copy sent to you, send an e-mail request to our editor and 4th VP, Sean Hayes at:

Each year the Region holds several events for members:  an annual Picnic with food, beer, soft drinks, entertainment and visit by numerous officers from foreign departments, a free Members' Appreciation Breakfast,  our annual Region Anniversary Party and three or more general membership meetings with free refreshments. We offer assistance to members who want to travel overseas hosted and assisted by IPA members from the countries they visit.

Each year, the region hosts literally hundreds of foreign Police Officers who are visiting the Miami area.  Several times a year, we host large (25 or so officers) groups for whom we sponsor organized programs.  Our most famous group are German Officers many of whom are from the graduating class of the Lieutenants' school of the German Border Patrol Service.  They spend two weeks here in late winter or early spring, and usually attend our annual picnic as well as sharing experiences during two or three social events in their honor. We do STRONGLY suggest that International IPA members wishing travel assistance follow the IPA travel procedures by contacting their respective Associate Secretary to the USA and complete the required travel form that confirms membership and outlines travel itinerary as well as travel requests and needs. When complete, the Associate Secretary will forward same to their counterpart here in the USA who will distribute appropriately.

Many local agencies have an IPA Representative to assist officers who want to join.  There is also a link on this web-site to a membership application form.  You can also contact any of the Region Officers listed on the site for more information and assistance in joining.

We invite all IPA members to come to Southern Florida and visit. Region 43 has it all, from professional sports ( Marlins, Dolphins, Panthers, and Heat ) to plenty of sunshine, beaches, deep sea fishing, and the beautiful Everglades.
