2015 Trip To Anywhere Winner

Posted By GERALD A. RUDOFF, Saturday, June 6, 2015
AND WE HAVE A WINNER FOR OUR 2015 TRIP TO ANYWHERE!

Dr. David Lounsbury

Naples, FL

[Below is his response when I emailed him]

Hi Jerry,

Wow, this was a great surprise.  I have been participating in that drawing since 1996.  Before I retired from Police Work.  My wife and I were in a restaurant in Las Vegas celebrating our 42nd Anniversary when I received the email over the phone.  I retired from the Florida Gulf Coast University Police, I was a Naples Police Officer for a year prior, and a retired Federal Agent from CID.  So I am retired twice from Police agencies.  I am a college professor and have been since 2003 teaching Forensic Science and a Magician on weekends.  I have been a member of IPA since the early 1980s and Joined Region 43 when I retired the first time in 96.
[Congratulation to our member Doc David and if we're lucky maybe we can get him to East Coast to do his magic act at one of our events.]

Region 43 News from Lew Aug 5, 013

Posted By GERALD A. RUDOFF, Monday, August 5, 2013

Dear Region 43 Members,

Three Things today.  First of all we have an IPA member from Region 18, Johnnie Taylor, who currently resides in Puerto Rico.  He and his wife must be in Miami for the month of November in connection to a trial involving American Airlines.  He would like to have a member host him and his wife during his stay.  The best part of the deal is that they own the Coconut  Palms Inn Resort in Puerto Rico, (Check it out at www.coconutpalmsinn.com) and are willing to reciprocate accommodations with any member that will host them.  If you are interested, contact our accommodations officer, Jerry Rudoff at gar_mia@yahoo.com (please note that here is an underline character between gar and mia).

Secondly, we have a group of German Police Helicopter Pilots visiting in September.  Jerry is sponsoring a social evening for them on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 7:00 PM, at the West Dade Moose Lodge, 9900 SW 77 Ave, Miami.  The Lodge is a private club, and drink prices are very reasonable.  They have been very cooperative about allowing us to hold social events there.

Finally, Our General Membership meeting in October is our election meeting.  We still have no candidates for Secretary/Treasurer or Secretary or Treasurer as a separate offices.  If you are interested in either of the offices separately or the combined office, please let me know.

IPA Youth Exchange Request

Posted By GERALD A. RUDOFF, Monday, July 22, 2013

Dear Region 43 Members,

We have a request from a young (16 years old) French girl, who would like to visit with an American Family for two or three weeks, from the end of July until as late as August 22.  She is an avid golfer.

She wants to stay with someone on the East coast, and is only interested in a family with other teenage girls.  For those of you who don’t fit that profile, my apologies, but I have no way to sort out the files by that criteria.

If you are interested, please reply directly to Barb Piirinen, our IPA-USA Youth Exchange Coordinator.  Her email is daihop@q.com   Please copy me on any correspondence you have with her.

Hello fellow IPA comrades,

I am the IPA International Youth Exchange Coordinator for the U.S. and have received a request from a French IPA member!

Penelope is the 16-year old daughter of Claudine & Bruno Guilleux from Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France).  She is requesting to be hosted this summer, any time from the end of July to August 22nd on the east coast.

  • She is a competitive golfer with a 2.5 handicap
  • She prefers a host family with teens.
  • She loves languages, visiting new places and shopping.
  • She is okay with a family that has animals.
  • She would like to be hosted on the East coast.

Can you please pass this to your members to see if anyone is interested in hosting Penelope? Please have the interested family contact me via e-mail or cell phone.

Thank you very much!

Welcome

Posted By GERALD A. RUDOFF, Monday, May 20, 2013
Hello and Welcome Region 43 members as well as all IPA members to our new website and blog.  Please keep in mind that programs such as these are only as good as the input and involvement that folks have.  Participation is critical to their success.. Remember the old adage, garbage in/garbage out!  I am seeking input specifically from Region 43 members of what you think we can do to make our Region and programing within our Region more interesting & of course FUN for both our retired and active (those still working) members?  Also and along these same lines, what can we do to engage more younger folks in our profession to participate?  (I know this is the big question that is on the minds of all IPA regions..) So with these questions in mind, we look forward to hearing from you and above all have fun and use this new website to your collective and individual advantage.. jerry
