 Pending Visitor Requests

Note to our Region 62 members:  We need your assistance more than ever!  Requests from potential visitors are listed by dates pending and reflect only what the webmaster is aware of (and has had the opportunity to update).  Our region is now utilizing a Visitor Assistance Team (VAT) in an effort to coordinate arrangements to assist IPA visitors to our region.  Hopefully, most requests will come into our new VAT email address and will thus be initially (and automatically) distributed to each of the coordinators of the team, plus being brought to the attention of the Regional Board.  A responsible member of the team (and this will rotate among various members) will respond back (asap) to every detailed inquiry that the region has received.  This should simplify the communications with the requester, help coordinate the arrangements and accommodations that our region is able to provide, and still keep everyone informed.

Hopefully, with this plan, no one individual will wind up doing all of the communicating, planning, or all of the work, and more importantly, no request should go overlooked.  Obviously, a lot depends upon what is requested, and especially how much advance notice we are given.  Our region has noticed a significant increase in requests and many requests are very open ended and do not give necessary particulars.  Often they are received without many details or particulars, many do not contain verifiable IPA ID at all, and many seem to arrive after being sent from individuals in one region or another, sent through, or to an IPA friend or an acquaintance, often arriving at the very last minute.  This does not enable your region to do its best work.  We really do need the assistance of every member (and friend) of Region 62 to enable us to assist our fellow law enforcement IPA members, and to offer them the same type of courtesy and assistance that we would perhaps like to receive.  Thus, we depend upon the willingness and availability of volunteer members of our region to assist our IPA visitors and to meet their needs wherever and whenever we can.

Important:  Any member able to assist, accommodate, or help out in any way [hosting, pick-up, accommodations, sightseeing, meeting, special arrangements, or whatever] on any  of the listed requests PLEASE email our Visitor Assistance Team email address IPA62visitor@gmail.com.  The team member that is handling that particular individual request will get back to you to assist in coordinating and to provide any additional details that may be known.  We will also try to update information on this page as more details become available (and as time permits).

Note to all of our prospective visitors (and to those that might be forwarding requests (such as Associate Secretaries or other Regional Officers.)  The majority of us come from active law enforcement backgrounds.  Although some of those careers may have been long ago, we should still be able to remember some of the very basic tenets that we were taught, or that we learned the hard way ~ IF ~ in fact we learned anything at all.  Almost every police report, and every successful investigation required FACTS, ("Just the facts, ma'am", as Sgt. Joe Friday of Dragnet fame used to quip).    I used to teach that there were five (5) very important W's and one (1) H that needed to ALWAYS be included in every single report or communication.   The 5 W's and the H.  The Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How.

It is rather frustrating to receive information from individuals or from other areas advising that a visitor is coming especially when they are requesting assistance, only to find that we have not been provided with significant details, often not even the very basic information.  Let us all remember what is needed, and let us never do that to another area, region, or member.  More details are always better than too few.

Please see the area at the bottom of this page for the information that is needed to process and handle requests for assistance.
