<>  We continue to have IPA visitors arriving.   Please click on this active  visitor requests  link to see a list of scheduled visitors and associates that may be arriving.

  • Always an opportunity for you to be able to meet some new colleagues and make some new contacts and friends.

  • Check the listings for updates to see what is requested or may be needed.

  • Is it possible that YOU might be able to provide some hosting, sightseeing, or make some other necessary arrangements?

  • Please check out the various requests and the listed activities of our various visitors.

<>  If you have not provided us with a valid e-mail address we may not be able to communicate with you easily.   Our region recently  prepared a new updated directory of all updated, renewed, and combined members (regions 62 & 7) but there are still far too many gaps on addresses and way too many bad e-mail addresses.   Obviously, some will be missing the announcements.  Contact the webmaster and provide  a valid and email address and other up-to-date contact info and we will update our records thus insuring that you receive all mailings.  We can keep your info confidential if you that is what you prefer.

National Police Week Activities for 2012 will be provided when announced.

NOTE:  Your regional web site is changing.   National IPA officers are presently making change to the National web site.  This will preclude regional webmasters from being able to easily or regularly updater any of their sites or web pages maintained off of the National site.  This has grown to be a very frustrating situation as it was National that originally suggested that the various regions link to the National site in the first place in order to have all regions make their presence known and to become more active on the web.  It was also to have one location where all regions could be easily located.  After having built IPA web sites for two regions (18 & 62) and having dealt with numerous pay-for-hosting web sites, plus domain registration, and link/web/domain forwarding fees on a regular basis, using the National site was for a while, a good answer.  It was far cheaper and easy to get to.  Now, with the officers establishing new rules and restrictions, it becomes impossible to maintain our site properly and to update the pages as they must be if they are to do the job.  As I must access the pages to make changes several times a week and sometimes spend a number of hours doing this, I (or we) cannot expect any other National officers to do this for us or to give us any prompt attention to our needs.   Having been through the regional bureaucracy (unsuccessfully) several times in past years trying to get approval to pay for web site hosting and forwarding in a timely manner before we lost the web site; then having to rebuild it all over again after that, and finally redoing again in order to move it all to the National site only to face this new fiasco, makes me very sorry to say that I am afraid that timely updates are a thing of the past.

<> Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 1830 (6:30 pm).   Eggspectations Restaurant.   A regular meeting for ALL members and officers, their significant others, and any visiting IPA members  will be held in the private meeting room at Eggspectations Restaurant.  5009 Westone Plaza Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151.  Phone: (703) 263-7444.     MAP/directions.     MENU   Take the Westfields Blvd. exit off of route 28 (Sully Road), heading west (or perhaps sw) to Stonecroft Blvd.  (should be the first exit).   Take a left, followed by another left and Eggspectations will be located in a small mall of stores that parallel Rte 28 in the SW quadrant of the cloverleaf.  We have enjoyed this location, along with the good service, food, and beverages for several of our previous meetings.   They have been able to accommodate our group by providing separate checks for our dining.   We hope to see you there.  Come out and join us.

    <> Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1830 (6:30 pm).   Eggspectations Restaurant.

<> Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 1830 (6:30 pm).   Eggspectations Restaurant.  Our annual holiday party will be held in the private meeting room at Eggspectations.  Again we will be enjoying a dinner without us having to carry in the dishes.  We can all sit back and enjoy a great meal of our choosing.

As per tradition we will have our special “white elephant" gift exchange.  So every individual (or couple) please remember to bring that truly special “white elephant" gift that you really want to see someone else open (and you hope to never see again)!    An exotic lamp shade, ~or~  the simulated pearline inlaid desk set (with the non-working clock held by the naked hula girl that was left to you by your Uncle Charlie, ~or~ even a Buddha figurine with a tummy to rub for luck could be yours (still sorry that Santa missed me with one of those).   Just bring the wrapped gift with no from tag and put it in the pile.  Who knows who will get to take it home this year.

Be there, and come in a festive spirit.  You are among friends.  Don’t forget to bring that "white elephant".  Pink elephants come later!

    Recent (past) activities   ~

Members have enjoyed a variety of different meals, repasts and activities at our meetings at a variety of venues.  It is always an informal gathering, wherein we enjoy the fellowship of our members, occasional guests, and discuss items of mutual interest while having fun and an opportunity to get together in a social setting.  We usually meet every other month.

We have tried various days and times to fit various schedules.   We have also tried many different locations as suggested.  No one location ever seems to please everyone as someone always has to drive east (or west), north (or south).  No day or time ever seems to satisfy all but we really do want to get the majority of you attending.  So make your suggestions to the officers and we will try (as always) to accommodate.  Our group has always been notoriously bad about making reservations and that has made it almost impossible for us to book many places.  We have found out that we really need a private room for our gathering in order to have a bit of privacy, and to hold even the shortest of an informal meeting.  We all much prefer separate checks (and that is really hard to get.  So if you are going to make suggestions . . . look for those things for a great location.

We have enjoyed picnics, catered buffet, potluck, chili dinners, cold cuts, etc.  Various members have also provided some special treats.  We usually discuss future plans at the meetings and the newsletter and web page provides us with a "heads-up".  For some time now, we have been using the fine facilities at Eggspectations as they have treated us very well.

We hope to always see you there.

Our more recent past activities have included:

Dinner meeting - April 13, 2011.  Some new faces.  Always nice to be among friends.
Dinner meeting
- February 9, 2011.  A good turn out of members for a cold February night.  Nice to see everyone there.

Dinners and meetings every other month.  Usually at Eggspectations Restaurant.

An outing with a tour of the Marine Corps Museum at Quantico followed by dinner at the Globe & Laurel Restaurant.   A nice event and a great time!
