Happenings - Present, Future, & Past

Your officers decided to put our Region on the Internet.  That has been accomplished.  We decided to hold alternating meetings in various locations throughout the region.  We have been promoting our activities.  We openly solicit every individual member for your ideas, thoughts, suggestions, meeting locations, and activities.  Speak up and be heard!  Contact your officers and let us hear from you.  The alternative is to sit back, grumble and complain.  Not too practical a solution is it?

New IPA region (62) formed in Northern Virginia area.

Region 62, known to its members as "The Virginia Patriot Region", was approved by the delegates at the 2003 National Delegate Conference (NDC) in Niagara Falls.  Region 62’s area consists of much of the “official” Northern Virginia area as recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia .  In particular, Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, and Loudoun counties are included, as well as the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Herndon, Leesburg, Middleburg, Vienna, and Warrenton.

Members of the region come from the active and retired ranks of a variety of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.  The majority of them have served with one (or more) of the numerous law enforcement agencies prevalent within Virginia or the District of Columbia .  Other members have served in other areas prior to moving to the Northern Virginia area.

The regions president, George Ashley may be reached via e-mail at: novaipa@hotmail.com.  The 1st vice-president, Kelly Gregory may be reached at: Kelly.Gregory@fairfaxcounty.gov.  Several of the new region members are new to the IPA, while others were formerly members of region 18 and region 7.

Tidewater Area meeting.

A meeting of Tidewater area members of Region 18 was held recently at the Golden Corral on South Independence Boulevard.  Region 18 members residing in, near, or traveling through the Tidewater area can touch base with the Region 18 VP for the Tidewater area: Thomas Sochor, (757) 623-1895.  E-mail: tssochor@aol.com.

Regional vice presidents were assigned responsibility for various areas within the region.  The problem of area specific activities will be revisited in the future.
