Police Chiefs Association

Many Chiefs of Police, both active and retired, belong to the International Police Association (IPA), which is the largest police organization in the world with over 300,000 members in 61 countries. The IPA is a non-profit, worldwide fraternal organization whose membership consists solely of active and retired law enforcement personnel regardless of rank. The organization is all volunteers and all officers serve in their spare time and receive no compensation of any kind to do so.

The IPA promotes global and cultural friendship among peace officers. Since this is an international organization, one of the major advantages relates to travel and making online police friends around the world. The emphasis of the organization is friendship. The Esperanto Motto of the Association is SERVO PER AMIKECO, which means "SERVICE THROUGH FRIENDSHIP".
